The Little Engine That Could (Play for a Draw)

Played a practice game against the 1300 Engine and I did not know that the Engine was programmed to play for a draw. I mostly played against Bots and the Engine before I had the guts to play people and it's fascinating that at this level, the Engine found it best to do a 3 move repetition. Under Analyze the position was dead-even (0.00) after Move 19. I thought 19. Rc1+ would proceed with Rxh1, then I would have the chance to take the Knight on g8 and give a check myself.

Any surprising results with the Engine or bots that you would like to share?

I believe the chess.com team worked hard to try and push bots to the limits of playing like a human, but that's a quest engine programmers have been searching for for years and haven't come close.

I prefer playing against a configurated engine on Arena Chess. Right now I only play against Fruit because I've tweaked it so that it looks for the most active moves, even when that means sacrificing a piece (which is kind of my style too). I've found it makes more human-like moves, even when the moves themselves are not easy to find - at least they are not the moves Stockfish puts out.

I get defeated every time but at least I have much more fun playing this than some of the other engines I practiced with (Rybka w/ optimistic outlook, Stockfish downgraded, Zappa)
