I didn't, my opponent did, but his only safe square for it was g8, which is the whole point of the gambit.

white is still winning basically automatically if the Vienna gambit is accepted

A simple move, qe2, and white is still automatically winning

fair enough. guess I just had to protest that there is at least one other move besides g8, but it doesn't really matter.

tbf its a very natural move but its better just to play ng8 because the queen on e7 can get into all sorts of trouble

That's not accepting it that's just the main line. Accepting it is when black plays 4. exf4

d6 is fine, it's pretty much the king's gambit declined

yeah but it's still consensus that the vienna should not be accepted.
