I don’t understand what’s going on with the time clock on this app. Can someone explain this to me.

Every time after my opponents turn their time clock goes up and then gain an extra 2-5 seconds. Every time. When I move my timer clock does not increase in time? What is happening here? My wife has times my turns with a separate stop watch and it’s completely inaccurate. Wtf???

I am not new to chess but I am new to things like a time clock.

But it still seems weird to me. I tried playing a 1 min game. And every time it was my turn I made a useless move instantly. In less than 2 seconds. My opponent seemed to move much slower. But after reading the link it makes sense that’s not accurate to his /her real thinking time.

But still I only made about 12 moves. At 1-2 seconds each move I should still have 48-36 seconds left on the game. But no, in only 12 moves as fast as absolutely possible my time ran out and I lost the game.

The site only allows a certain amount of lag, so if your lag is too high that will get counted against your clock. The archive shows exactly how much time each of your moves takes based on the actual time taken and any lag over that amount.
