Hey!Just wanted to start a topic for any advice to improve & best strats for beginners?? Any advice appreciated and thank you! I've been enjoying chess so much lately and operating on a much more strategic & perspicacious level compared to before I started playing properly - so thank you to those who ignited my passion for it (although I'm still a novice myself) x Some of my own tips below if it helps anyone:- Hope I've got the name right but the Italian opening is my go to, pawn over king (two spaces up) + both knights out but protected by pawns to start and I tend to bring the queen's pawn up too then the battle really begins Or a cheeky bishop if the opportunity comes to checkmate
- Learnt about En passant the hard way when my pawn magically self deleted...if you are new google it. Good knowledge.
- Castle early!!! it's helped me improve my game so much
- Keep control of the centre board. Esp those knights. Don't just attack ASAP. develop!! think about the next 2-4 moves of your competitor...if you have time XD
- Listen to everything 2x5 speed. The brain starts to process info faster.
- Play coach and do the course! helping heaps
- play 10min, blitz and bullet...again I'm starting to make quicker decisions
- learn about forking, not the fun kind the one with the knight
- Also play with yourself....at the chess table. I've been doing that and learning heaps
Finally, remember the only thing separating us and Magnus is around 3000 Elo points XD

For me, I do the premium chess lessons and try to play against bots, sometimes online if I'm bold. Practice makes perfect after all 🦄

I’ve noticed with players I teach that progress speeds up once they stop chasing openings and start focusing on the core principles.

Solely for the amount of stuff you get, if you're willing to pay like 17 dollars max monthly (diamond membership) it's worth it.
