Before making every move, ask yourself:

“What is my opponent threatening?”

Many games are lost not because of a bad plan, but because a player misses a simple threat like a hanging piece, fork, pin, or checkmate idea. Spending just a few seconds checking your opponent’s threats can prevent a lot of mistakes and instantly improve your results.

A simple checklist:

1. Can my opponent check me?
2. Can they capture one of my pieces?
3. Do they have a tactical trick (fork, pin, skewer, etc.)?

This habit alone can make a huge difference in your games! ♟️✨

Reviewing your games with the online chess coach is a great way to learn from mistakes and find better moves. Practicing against bots with different ratings also helps you improve by exposing you to different skill levels and playing styles.
