Using an engine during a tournament is a huge no-no; I know this. But during my regular daily games, the analysis button is sitting right there almost asking me to push it. In terms of a game in progress, what will pushing it tell me? Even though I'm desperate to know what happens if I push it, I'm worried about what will happen to the game in progress, or worse what it will tell my opponent. Does it make me a cheater? What is the etiquette/legality of this?
When viewing one of your Daily games, the Analysis button will let you move pieces on the board, record lines, and let you take notes. It does not turn on an engine (that's why the button is available on that page). So I highly recommend using it!
