whenever your two friends are playing (or anyone else you want to watch), simply go to "live chess", but don't begin a game. Look at where the game chat is and you will notice that a few tabs over is "friends." It will show which of your friends are online/playing at the moment. To watch a game of someone else's in progress, simply click on their name there.
p.s. you can also predict the moves (by moving pieces on your screen) in what chess.com calls an "observation game" where you can compete with other observers to guess more correct moves than them (correct being how accurately you guess the move they will play).
