what does it mean when I can’t move anymore pieces?

Does this means it’s checkmate and my opponent won? It’s happened to me twice towards the end of games, I just cannot move anymore pieces. I thought when my opponent wins the game immediately ends…

If it is your turn and there are exactly zero legal moves for you, the game will automatically end as a draw by stalemate.
However, if you're feeling like you're in that position and the game hasn't ended, most likely you are in check and you have to make a move that either blocks the check or moves your king. So, that should narrow down your search for legal moves quite a bit.
Unfortunately, this frequently happens when your opponent is able to force a checkmate, but sometimes not!
