What is that graph in openings???

I’m wondering why there is absolutely no information or instructions on how things work on Chess.com. Under the Openings tab, what is that graph with black, gray and white and what does it mean? How does it work? I’m also very disappointed in the Articles section. Why aren’t there any topics categories? I can find beginner chess articles on line that are on Chess.com, but if I open them, I can’t interact with them. Ideas? Thanks!
