My mom resigned in an OTB game and it doesn't look like it's a permanent material advantage
Maybe he wanted to click on the draw button but his muscle memory made him click the resign button.

Maybe the queue at the post office cleared up soon and it was his turn.
Maybe his boss came into the office.
Maybe he was in the car waiting for his girlfriend and she finally got out.
Maybe his wife told him to stop playing chess and pick up the baby at the swimming pool.
Maybe his father told him to stop playing chess and do his homework.
Maybe his sister told him to stop playing chess because his father and mother are very upset because he doesn't do his homework and they're on their way.
Maybe he just got bored of playing.
Who knows ?

In the final position it's white to move. White wins with Rg6. You were lucky the guy disconnected.
Their mothers probably called them and they wouldn't listen when you say that you can't pause the game
