Why do I stop improving in 1400?

I have played some 5 and 10 min rapid, but I seen to be stuck at 1400s, can anyone better than me help me? I already know about pawn structure, positional play, but I'm still stuck.

Many would be happy to reach 1400.      Some players plateau out.    That could be your maximum.

What do you mean you "know about pawn structure, positional play" ?    Do you think you know all there is to know about those areas  or   know the basics only ?     If you want to increase your chess knowledge you must read chess books too.    There is much information to learn.

Ok maybe I could find some chess books to learn, do you think chess.com lessons will help me improve?

In order to improve your skills, you need to learn as much as you can about the fundamentals.

To get a sense of the kinds of things you should be learning in order to improve, check out this article.  But take your time.  All of this can't be learned in a day, a week, a month, or even many months - it takes years.  There is no time limit on chess improvement – but that’s what makes it a great game!

For those (especially at lower ratings) who play strictly speed chess (bullet, blitz, rapid), I suggest to check out the section 'Play Longer Time Controls' toward the end of the article.

I recommend also to read/study this very instructive book in order to gain an appreciation for what constitutes proper fundamentals…

Pandolfini's Ultimate Guide to Chess by Bruce Pandolfini

With dedication and determination, there is no reason that you shouldn't be able to improve dramatically.  However, if you're not willing to put in the necessary work, then it might be best to accept that you will improve very little, if at all.  (If you keep doing what you're doing, you will keep getting what you're getting.)

++ change to 15|10, use all time before move 30 and analyse your lost games so as to learn from your mistakes. Chess is 99% tactics.

Chess is not 99% tactics.

The vast majority of moves are position.

I teach positional play for intermediate and beginner level players. Tactics are great, but without positional play they are nothing.

Are you a chess coach? Where do you teach people Chess? Sorry for of-topic but I got curious. Because it sounds fun.

from 1400 level I think watching Nardoitskys speedruns is great, you will learn a lot from his videos and you can get new ideas to reach further. That is what helped me a lot going from 1400 to 1700.

I had reached  chess.com 1860 without knowing positional/strategy, and pawn structures. And until now I never studied anything about opening principles.

So what is your secret? Also you kinda have almost no games on your profile, so where can one see your track record?

I teach people I meet on chess.com for free, I don’t use the classroom feature but I play them and give them position pointers. I’ve written out a whole list of positional aspects that I give to students and help them improve in those specific areas. One person said I helped him improve from 1400 to 1600!

Get your pieces active, don't hang your pieces, get your king safe, and always be on the lookout for mistakes made by your opponent.
