Why do many beginners bring the queen out on the second or third move?

The hillbilly attack brings out the queen somewhat early.

Because they can't bring the queen out on the first move

Have you not heard the phrase - the Queen is a strong piece so sacrifice it early?

I'm a beginner too but never do this.

Occasionally it will gain material for them but the vast majority of the time I just end up chasing their queen around the board while developing pieces.

What is the logic of bringing the queen out on the second or third move?

Its related to beginners learning the 2, and 4 move mate.

I’m a beginner, and I remember I used to do that a LOT.
For me, as llama said, it’s pretty much because I was getting results - beating weaker players. If you do well with something, it doesn’t make sense to make a change.

I actually enjoy playing the Wayward Queen in bullet to disorient people.

Try the Caro-Kann hillbilly attack. Has a lot of the same stuff, and is pretty spicy!

They have done it in many many games against me.

Yes, it can get results at very low levels but won't help you become a better chess player.

Yes, but with only two pieces, and one of them is a target when going up against a stronger opponent.
