I'm sure this has already been said, but Blitz is for fun. Slow games are for improvement.
Sure, you can continue to play Blitz for fun, but your rate of improvement will be regulated by the number of slow games you play.
Isn't all chess for fun?

I thought the point of chess was to smash the other player's ego and ruthlessly destroy his self-confidence.
You know what they say: you can't make an omelet without breaking legs.

Lmao. I mean noone gets good at something like this unless they enjoy it *and* take it seriously imo.

Sometimes it's for money ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. There's also points, but the points don't matter :/
I'm sorry but could you please repeat that? I want to make sure that I correctly understood what you just wrote.
On a more serious note, games like this are exactly why everyone is trying to strongly encourage you to stop or greatly minimize the amount of blitz games that you play. It is extremely difficult to play quality chess, avoid mistakes (37...b3??), and to take advantage of your opponents mistakes (30...Rf8??) when you only spend about 10 seconds a move. It is nearly impossible to do so when you are lacking experience and trying to develop into a good player.
With that being said, I'm glad that you are taking our advice in playing more slow games. I did notice that you have recently gone from 1 to about 7 daily games with time controls greater than a move every day.

I definitely have to limit the slow games to 2 or 3 a day though lol. I had so many going for awhile that I couldn't remember what was going on in each game. I had a few blunderless games in the daily format. It's a lot more satisfying to try to figure out the best move than it is to just make moves quickly.

True, it does help to limit the amount of daily games that you've got going or else you might fall into the same trap like playing too many blitz games.
Just remember that you can save notes on individual daily games that you can read over when you come back to it later. It can be useful to jot downs ideas, plans, analysis, and points that you want to remember and come back to the position with a fresh mind. You don't have to worry about not remembering what was happening during the game.
I know this is starting to get off topic but what the heck happened here? The guy played like a complete idiot and got checkmate. Is this just bad luck or did this guy have a strategy I couldn't see? lol. Im white.
it's called space advantage, and u got some of it
i don't understand why are u asking for a better rating if u keep playing poor openings, chess basics are important, no matter what u say about it

"Playing better openings" shouldn't be the highest priority for the OP. You would know that if you spent more than a minute going over his games.
I can't seem to improve any at all really. I know tactics, I know a few basic openings, and my rating is wildly fluctuating between 825 and 975. I don't understand what's so bad about how I'm playing.
I won the game below, but I really should have lost. Most of my games go like this but they don't end so well for me.
I wouldn't expect games against players this low rated to be so tactically difficult.
I can relate to you on a different scale. Just keep on doing tactics and maybe change your opening style. You may know many things, but there will be one moment where it will all connect. Just wait for that moment.
Trust me, I have heard that, and I didn't believe it either. But when I when from 1400 USCF to 1600 USCF, I got my hope.
My rating has actually gotten to what I would consider fair for my skill level (1k blitz, 1200 daily) so this whole post is a moot point lol. The advice has definitely helped. I was focusing too much on quick wins and not enough on playing a solid game.

Hope this is posting to the main thread - 'Why is my rating so low': FIRST: So I know that disconnecting is affecting my rating somewhat ...and my intuition says that although I try and match players +200 from me, the matching system rarely pits me against anyone more than 50-100 higher than me..so I don't get the benefit that comes from playing higher ranked players..AND I know the odd blunder does me in..HOWEVER after 1500 + games over the last couple of years I've been stuck in the same low narrow and narrow score bracket.. PLEASE would anybody be willing to maybe play me or analyse some of my games with me(whatever might help) to help find out how I might sure up my game ?? Thanks for reading
I'm playing more slow games now too, I don't know why that user claimed that I'm not. It may have been true at the time he posted I don't know.
