My tactics rating is 1135 now on chess tempo btw. I think that chess.com should not allow people to choose the rating they start at. Especially having beginner as the default, because it's easy to miss and that means the 800 rated players can be essentially random. I think that's part of the issue there and why it seems to get easier around the 1000 mark rather than harder.
Why is my rating so low

Maybe you not very clever?
Just saying...
Not Emma, the OP.
Are those real...
What are you replying to? Is what real? I can't understand your English, sorry.

He is telling you, that you are not very clever and he is questioning the realness of something but not related to you.

Oh, duh, why didn't I just be more clever in my games. @Lion_XVI out here changing lives.

@Mark_Zambelli this is the first game I played after doing some tactics training. Perhaps it is the key lol. You see the board in a totally different way. I have no idea why he resigned so early, only being down a rook though.
You were still pretty greedy in this game. What was you idea behind Nd5? This time your opponent played careless, but what would you have done if he had simply played Nf6? I would not recommend playing bad position in the hopes that your opponent will make big mistakes.

The idea was that if he ever moves his queen I get a free rook, which is exactly what he did. If he played Nf6 then I would protect the pawn with my bishop. If he takes my knight then it's an even trade with tempo because he has to move his other knight once I take with the pawn.

You actually lose tempo, you were right with the free rook but only because your opponent made a huge mistake. Try out some other variations then the one I showed, you will see Nd5 was a wrong move.

In the opening try to develop all your pieces and castle, don't move a single piece multiple times. Also when you develop your light squared bishop by playing Bd3 it blocks your d pawn and your dark square bishop,so try developing the light squared bishop by playing Bb5 or Bc4.

I would play Qe2 in this case, but yeah there are probably a lot of ways to turn it into a problem for me lol.

Moves are wasted on a knight maneuver that could be used to develop pieces and get the king to safety. The bishop on d3 is a tall pawn that hinders the development of the dark squared bishop and can actually be a hindrance to your occupation of the center . You are going to have to spend another move for it to get involved in the game.
I've seen enough of your games to know that your first step to improving as a player is to notice and avoid careless mistakes. Soon, you are going to have to develop the ability evaluate potential moves on additional factors other than material considerations or expecting your opponent to make a mistake (Like moving the queen away from defending the c7 fork).
learn some chess and your rating should improve.
Your valuable contribution to this discussion is greatly appreciated.
thanks, i was worried it might be a bit too deep.
If anything, your contribution was short and to the point. Don't hesitate to add more depth to what you say so that others can benefit from your insight.

What do you think of this game? I tried to play a bit more carefully and definitely used more tactics here. I feel like I must have messed up somehow to allow his queen to get by my king though. I'm playing the black pieces.
Lol watching it back I realized I completely blundered the knight and he ignored it.
@Mark_Zambelli this is my second game after doing tactics lol. Suddenly chess is fun again. I think this really is where I need to focus.
Nice! Tactics training is probably the only fun way to improve, keep going at it.
