in my mind Qg2# would be mate
Why this position is a stalemate?
If it is Black's turn, white is toast. However it must be White's turn and there are no legal moves for white to make. Pawns are blockaded for white and the King is stuck on his square. = stalemate
thanks OG, i realized it was a very dumb question, i didn't saw it was White's turn. It must be the ADHD lol.
Hey it's all good, it takes time to look for the "White/Black to move" title within the various portals. Good luck in your studies!
It's stalemate because you can't move your king because of the queen and bishop, and you're only other pieces are your f & h pawns, and you cannot push those because the king and queen are interposing them (blocking their way). The opponent on the lesson might have made a move thinking it's going to be mate in a few moves and accidentally stopped you from moving at all.
Hi guys, i was watching a lesson and a doubt came, i'm a beginner so i couldn't figure it out myself, hope y'all can help me.
