Why you should play against stronger player

playing against someone the same rating as you is okay but playing against stronger

will make you learn from your mistake

if you play stronger player you must apply of what you study

the benefit of playing stronger player is even if you lose you dont lose points, your ego is not as intense as when you play the same rating as you thus more focus, the win is 10x satisfying than playing the same rating as you so much so that the boost of dopamine will make you stop playing for a day

but if you just want to stay at your rating range that is okay you dont need to get stronger when you just want to have fun.

This is exactly why I stay at my elo range and lower. I like playing chess for the sake of just playing it. There's zero fun for me when playing against anyone of higher rating.

There is a selfish aspect in this.
Why then should the stronger player play with you?
You should play stronger as well as weaker opponents and aim for a 50% score.
If you score below 50% then you play too strong opponents,
if you score above 50% then you play too weak opponents.

stronger player can abort easily

playing weaker player is definitely unnecesary if the goal is to improve

scoring is not of the concern

i do think that playing against weaker players may affect chess games performance

Also if you happen to win against a stronger opponent, the win is more rewarding , and you get know that your learning and making progress.

Winning too much makes you cocky.
Losing too much demotivates you.
Learn from your losses and enjoy your wins.

Exactly.

Only way to get better

But on any chess platform it is unofficially discouraged since so many people are easy to accuse you of cheating

Yurinclez2

That is why i prefer playing with non human opponents..but can't sure if chimps can accuse or not though

That’s what I did- but with a different reason. If I lose against a stronger player, I can always blame the skill gap, while if I win I can brag about it. There’s no loss involved!
