Youtube channels with average game reviews

Hi all,

I have been watching a lot of GothamChess and Agadmator lately to learn from grandmaster games. However, I feel that most of the tactics and strategies that are discussed go about five moves too deep for my beginner brain. I think it would be much better to see game reviews from people at (or slightly above) my rating. Their mistakes (and the corrections on them) would be much easier to understand and implement.

My question: are there any Youtube (or other) channels that do reviews of games around 800-1000 rating and explain mistakes in tactics and strategy? I hope the lessons from those games would add a level of learning that I'm missing by just watching the masters play.

Thanks in advance!

You could check out the channel of GM Niklas Huschenbeth. He analyzed a lot of amateur games. Most of them are probably higher rated than 1000 but still he explains typical amateur mistakes.

I invite you to check out my channel since my target audience is below 1000.

I recently analyzed  two under 1000 rated player chess games.

I hope that this helps.

Search for John Bartholomew's Climbing the Rating Ladder series on YouTube. He plays against players at different rating ranges and explains his thought process and what his opponents could have done better.  Also check out his chess fundamentals Playlist. Similar thing, only with a particular theme in mind.

Gotham Chess has a series called guess the ELO where he looks T subscriber games and guesses their rating. That’s helped me.

ChessCoach Andras has a lot of YouTube videos of games with lower rated players. I'm not sure how low rated, but IM Andras Toth explains the mistakes that the lower rated players make.

My three main go to youtubers for this sort of thing are Gotham, Daniel Naroditsky, and John Bartholomew. They all have 'speed run' or 'rating climb' type series (think Gotham's series is called 'learn to play chess') where they explain a lot of beginner mistakes. They also analyse each game after playing it.

John Bartholomew has a 'chess fundamentals series' (5 videos from memory) that is really good also.

Also a lot of people recommend ChessBrah's building habits series which focuses on what habits you should be forming at different ratings. I personally didn't find that one quite as helpful as some of those others mentioned above, but heaps of other people mention ChessBrah's one as being really helpful for them.
