Oh.. And even if that wasn't mate then after black Rc8 to stop the pawn there would be white Kf7.. I just failed this ><

This is a very clever problem. I must admit I would have not found the Re7 solution; rank movement is a major problem for me.

Clever one, indeed - will try to find more like this one by Vukovic in the old magazines.

There is one thing I'd like to point out here,

What we have seen is there is a couple of ideas and solutions to the problem. And that pretty much applies to the majority of situations, in particular when we have advantage, or have already launched attack (when defending, our choice of options is significantly reduced, sometimes to only one move - if only we could find it!).

But when possessing initiative, there usually are more-than-one ways of how to proceed. It is clearly lshown with Vukovic's position. The idea of Looking for the BEST, that is ONE move (that we have somehow got used in the era of chess engines) may therefore be misleading and harmful for our thinking.

Sometimes, there may be a forceful, brutal way, like Morphy's above. But maybe I would like to try another beautiful, creative, never-seen-before idea that will bring more fun and enjoyment to the table and our chess lives...

Hey, no contributions for two days, so thought it might be time to post Vukovic's fun article on our position at hand.

Please, let me know if you need me help translate it (because this is an image, it's an easy task to type the text in Google Translator, instead of a simple copy/paste)

In Serbian (or any dialect of it, like Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin)

K = King

T = Rook (literally Cannon, or "Top")
