7 Knights vs. 7 Bishops

Who do you think would win a game that started like this?

Is it an easy win for black, a hard win for black, a draw, a hard win for white, or an easy win for white?  Would it make much difference if white had the bishops and black had the knights?

easy win for the side with the knight

I agree. For the knights can easily fork the bishops and still be protected by other knights.

I do believe it is close, but the bishops would have an advantage - why? because knights, after there are too many, will have no where to go - they visit the same squares, so after some pawn pushes the knights will have no outposts and be worthless. The bishops (which have strong diagonals) will be able to pick out the knights and attack many at the same time, and in case of a fork one of the "forked" bishops will just move to cover the other.. as knights on dark squares only attack light squares so the forked bishops will both be on light squares.

Someone should figure out how to run this through a computer just to see what happens....

Thanks tngerb...it was actually pretty interesting to see how the two armies maneuver against each other...
