Discipline is key. For example, try to have a self imposed rule of sleeping at 10 pm every day. Turn your pc or smartphone off 30 minutes before time of sleep. I tried it before when i was addicted to mafia wars game in facebook. As time goes by, it will become a routine and you will not be itching to play chess in the middle of the night.
