The Varsity Match between Cambridge and Oxford officially started in 1873.
Some interesting figures emerge.
Cambridge won 11 consecutive varsities from 1970 to 1980 and then immediately Oxford's run of 8 consecutive wins followed.
Three ties in a row occured in 1959, 1960 and 1961.
Eight out of sixteen matches held between 1951 and 1966 were tied but there was no single draw between 1967 and 2001!
Biggest overall gap between the teams was in 1904 as Cambridge had a 12 point lead (22-10).
The only clear score in the history happened in 1919: Cambridge won 7-0.
In 2014, a tie (4:4) occurred again.
