Evolution is the furthest thing from religion.  I'm pretty sure science is fair game here.

Common descent is well established with a wealth of scientific evidence:

It's not been "disproven" at all -- furthest thing from it.

When I play chess my African Grey parrot Hugo sits and watches the game. I often wondered if one could teach a parrot to play chess.  It has been proven that an African Grey has the IQ equivalent of a 4.5 year old human. The other day he mumbled some words in his beak, I swear it sounded like cogito ergo sum.

I believe the original question posed has already been answered has it not? Therefore (and I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering), why has creationism suddenly reared its head? Wouldn't that be off-topic? But for the sake of humour, I will say this. Science is a quest for knowledge. Faith/religion is a quest for inner peace. Neither should be confused with the other. Peace out...

Science is simply a methodology to eliminate bias.  That's all.  I don't know what foolish adult did you the disservice of feeding you that laughable origin, but in any case its origin is irrelevant.

TKACHS

Yes, since chess is "for the birds."

What about those of us for whom knowledge is the road to inner peace?

Good point. I get inner peace from knowledge too, but the inner peace is an extra bonus, not the primary objective surely?
