           Denver's Delicious Supper!

One summer I went to a chess tournament in Mexico City. It was going to be a lengthy one against a strong field. My first match was against a master from Brazil, having to play black I managed to get a draw.

That evening I went to a local restaurant after resting after my first game. While sipping my tequila margarita, I noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful.

I asked the waiter, "Pedro, what is that you just served that gentleman?”

Pedro replied, "Ah senor Denver, you have excellent taste! Those are called ‘Cojones de Toro’ bull's testicles from the bull fight this morning. It’s a delicacy!”

I said, "What the heck, bring me an order, please.”

Pedro replied, "I am so sorry Senor Denver. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early in the morning and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy.”

The next morning, I returned and ate delicious 'huevos rancheros' and I placed my order.

That afternoon I went and played my Chess match which I knew it would be against a strong attacking player. After and arduous forty-eight move game I managed a win.

That evening after resting I went to the restaurant. “Hello Pedro.”

“Hola, Senor Denver. We have been waiting for you with your meal.”

I was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, inspecting my platter, I called motioned Pedro over and I said, “These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday.”

Pedro shrugged his shoulders, raised his hands and said, “Si, Senor Denver. The bull 'the Black Devil' has not lost yet. Sometimes a bull, he wins! So those are ‘cajones de matador.’”
