chess is goooood

I agree on the schools. I ran chess clubs when I was still teaching in the classroom. One school with grades 3/4/5, and another at a Jr. High with 6/7/8. I am spread kind of thin now as assistant principal at two schools, and simply don't have the time, but am trying to recruit some help. It is great for the kids in terms of sharpening their thinking and problem solving skills.

I've always admired chess. I attempted to get into it a few years back and it fizzled. For whatever reason, I started up again and I'm absolutely hooked! I'm reading books, I'm playing on chess.com, I'm buying new sets...I'm out of control! The main reason for my fascination is that it blows my mind that a game which is 1400+ years old is still not tired. It hasn't been exhausted. It is still fresh and new. It is infinitely complex and yet so simple that a 4 year old can play it. The board and pieces are so artistically beautiful. The movements of the pieces are so perfect. It is a perfectly balanced game of chaos. Wonderful. I don't care if I'm never the best or even close to mediocre. I just love this game and the learning experience.
I think that everybody should aleast play once a week!!!!
