Tioc tat toe is better than chess. Wd all know that with best play chess is a draw. But it is very hard to achieve that result. I do not know of anybody who always can get at least a draw out of a chess game.\
Now with tic tac toe one can learn how to draw in a few minutes and after that can achieve at least a draw for the rest of his life!

I saw a movie called "The Greatest Game Ever Played." It was about golf.
I have to agree with the poster who pointed out the incredible complexity that chess achieves with relatively few pieces and some very simple rules. ALL of the legal moves can be learned in under an hour (though it takes much longer for them to "sink in"). After that, those six different pieces can execute games of such depth that at the rate of one game per minute, the universe hasn't been around long enough yet to play all the possible games.
Plus, it's a game of perfect information. In bridge and poker, no matter how skillful the player, he/she is still subject to a good or bad deal. You may play a bad hand brilliantly, but it's still a bad hand. In chess, though, everything you need is right in front of you at all times. There's no bad position that you didn't create yourself.
Though I do not play the game, I think Go might challenge chess for complexity and intellectual stimulation. But the pieces (stones) are BORING!! You're never going to see any artists produce the Staunton Go design--to say nothing of the Civil War or Star Trek collectors' game.

There is less luck in tic tac toe than in chess!

There is nothing to dispute, I think. Everyone will find something in chess, but of cause it`s not the first and only game in the world. There are many nice games we are playing with friends, like Ticket To Ride, Niagara, Dixit, and even UNO (if nobody want to think this evening). There is games we don`t need anything to play - just a company of 4 or more players. I like chess, but I can`t imagine us playing a tournament after a hard working day ))) Chess is a game for fresh brain, it will never relax me. So... chess is a great game, but let`s follow a middle path (it would be wise) - "the best" is an extremity term, it`s not the matter of something real, it`s only an opinion.
