Chess-mas Cheer
On a board of black and white,
A quiet battle, soft and bright,
Knights and rooks in festive rows,
While Christmas lights above them glow.
Pawns like presents, neat and small,
Ready to rise or take a fall.
Bishops move with gentle grace,
Like carolers in a winter's place.
The Queen—so regal, bold, and free—
Guides the game with joy and glee.
The King, with quiet hope and pride,
Holds the crown, though none can hide.
A checkmate’s echo, crisp and clear,
Sounds like a jingle, filled with cheer.
For in this game, as snowflakes fall,
The season’s spirit touches all.
With every move, a wish is made,
Underneath the mistletoe's shade.
And as the clock ticks down to night,
All pieces rest in soft twilight.
Chess-mas magic, calm and still,
Plays out beneath the winter's chill,
Where strategy and warmth combine,
And all the world is sweetly fine.
