Not sure how many people would agree, red isn't easy on the eyes, its bright and electric. Unless its a more brownish duller red.

I would like to play with red chess pieces on the internet. It's virtually impossible to get a standard PC with this facility built in, but surely people like Chess.com can do this ?
White versus Red would be a pleasant break in the monotony of always playing Black.
