I can believe it .... I play heavy rock, mostly ZZ Top or AC/DC while I'm playing, the louder the better! I am sure that must put the opposition of their stroke, maybe dressing as a black witch might frighten them into submission and they would resign ...
If only they could see/hear. 
ZZ Top or AC/DC ? If I knew that you were listening to them while playing with me, I would have resigned immediately.
Being happy and relaxed improved my play. And if I'm careless or overconfident, .....you know.

Miguel I can't wait to check out Gothic Rock sounds amazing will be doing it next when I get off here. Is it so different from other rock groups? I am still trying to imagine you sitting at your laptop wearing all black gear, do you wear a hat as well? And what about refreshment while you are playing chess, is it a coffee or a glass of something. They say coffee is excellent for chess perfomance, it improves memory and and does other helpful magical things to your brain, always have a cup while playing, how about you?
Yes, my girlfriend swears that wine and chocolate improve my performance.

Myself... I wear a beat up Rams "baseball" cap... at every tournament. Its really becoming serious ... when Ive forgotton it, Ive had some of my worst losses or tournaments. At one Ramless hat tourny, my only win was vs a blind guy (Henry). :D

I think a hat can be very helpful, it puts us in the role, makes us focus better.

I love a guy who smokes a pipe, something so sexy about it, if I was playing you knowing you had a pipe in your mouth would make me very h***y! ;)
Pork cracklins and pepsi, plus the right mindset. Mostly that last thing I said.

pipes don't have a filthy small, they have got a gorgeous smell, I still stand by my previous comment, I would melt at the thought of someone smoking a pipe while I was playing with them.

I don't know about you but munching on chocolate, sipping wine and using my dog as a foot stool, (her choice), certainly improves my game, does anyone have similar odd practices while trying to clobber their opponent?
