Does learning Russian make you better in chess?

It may be that drinking lots and lots of Vodka would help if Russian blood transfusions would be prohibitive.

You just need to go to school in Russia for a while. Then you'll know all those things "every Russian schoolboy knows..."

(Edit: I read a funny story by a Dutch pro runner who was in Kenya for training; when waiting in a long line to get some money from an ATM, he had the feeling he probably had the slowest personal best on the half marathon of all the people in the line. I was constantly reminded of that when I played as a tourist in the bottom group of the Aeroflot Open some years back. Even the arbiters glared at me to make me know I didn't belong in their nice tournament after I managed to lose a completely drawn rook ending...)

Most Ruskies actually speak English [i.e. American] but with a Russian accent.

How do you speak in a Russian accent? Pronounce the R's like you would in Spanish, make "th" into "s" or "z", put the stress on the wrong syllables, pronounce "w" as "v"

Every word beginning with an E sound must have a Y inserted in front of the E. For instance, "every" is pronounced :"yevery"
And "very" is pronounced :"vyery"

Every word beginning with a U must delete the Y sound,.
Therefore "united" becomes like "oonited".

Every word with a U in the middle of it, also deletes the Y and makes a straight OO sound.
example: Communist becomes "comooneest"

Note also the I (eye) sound is a long ee sound
again "comooneest"

W becomes "VW" "What" becomes "Vwaht"

And h becomes kh-"have" becomes "khave"

Hey!!! What do you think of the card idea? it is not new, but it is very useful when used correctly and learning a new language. The main thing is not to get confused in the names later)). I myself took a course from the Russian school https://golearnrussian.com/ and for the correct understanding of new words, we were also advised to resort to various techniques in memorizing and using new words, sounds, phrases. In fact, in this case, it is to immerse yourself in an atmosphere where you simply cannot do without the Russian language, there must be constant practice, including speaking

Hmm...what is the very best chess book on the planet that is only available in Russian? That would give the Russians an unfair advantage.

As a person that used to speak english with an accent, this is entirely accurate

How do you say "I resign" in Russian?

You don't. You carry on until you've lost all your men.
