Oops, little bit of a glitch in the chess I described above. If God moved his queen to reveal a discovered check by His heavenly rooks, Magnus would ALREADY be in check from His queen, so it would be Magnus' move. Aw, what the heck, it's all fantasy anyway.

Sometimes when I don't have an OTB opponent I will play against 'the devil.' (Making the best move for each side) Am I really playing against the devil, or against God, or just against my alter ego??

of course magnus loses.  he doesn't claim to be perfect.  he can't even beat a lump of silicon.

but its a "for fun" question so... carry on.

I think Magnus WINS!!! God is good at creating galaxies, stars and everything but does he know the Najdorf????????????????????????

God would know every possible game or variation that exists/can exist, and would play completely perfect. So the answer is obvious.

Lol I was going to write the same thing if nobody else in the thread said it already. Since he knows all possible games he knows which ones lead to wins for his side, and he also knows what Magnus is going to play anyway so he could just choose the move that leads to the quickest win based on what Magnus will play in response to his move. I think it would be a draw if both sides played perfectly but Magnus would have to be above current computer strength to even suggest he might be able to.
