I'm unsure what the official FIDE rules say if an illegal move has been played.
So could it have been possible that Gaston actually won this game (due to his opponent's illegal move) and flips the board in victory?

I've attempted to recreate the position from the game in Beauty and the Beast (1991) with Gaston being White. I had to guess his King's position as it's placed between squares. From here his opponet (illegally) plays Bd6-b5, Gaston's move after that is to flip the board.
