What If Chess Had One More Piece?

How about a hidden piece placed by the computer on any square between ranks three and six at the beginning of the game. When a player moves any piece other than the king onto that square, the hidden piece— which I call the Black Hole— makes the player’s piece disappear from the board. Players must then remember to avoid that square. If a rook, bishop, or queen passes over the Black Hole square, that piece also disappears.

Watch out for the hidden Black Hole!
