You were clearly and completely lost. Why not resign?

I guess that Kahill13 realized the game was over, even if you didn't, and that it was not worth sitting around for the points.

I guess it is kind of ironic that he was the one who was warned for violating the fair play policy when you were the one who was a poor sport...

Maybe he meant ironing.

I think if he said that you'll lose and then he ends up losing it would be ironic, so in a way it is ironic, I guess with what happened?

But he (Kahill13) didn't say that ("You'll lose.") so it isn't ironic in that way.

/ If he said he was not Donald Trump, and he got fired, would that be ironic? No, even though both conditions are true.  In your case, the first condition isn't even true.

Well, he said "just resign", which means that he thought he had won and then he ends up losing, so maybe that's ironic in a way?

But he had won. Have you looked at the position?

The fact that DarkBlueStorm wouldn't admit it and was going to sit around and run out the clock doesn't change that.

Aren't you willing to give up rating points to people like that? Life is too short. I stopped playing anything slower than blitz here because of people like DarkBlueStorm.

Sure, he had a winning position, but technically lost due to disconnection. I was just commenting on the irony part, what actually took place was silly:)

Maybe the second definition? He expected to win and told his opponent to resign, but ends up losing because his opponent didn't like being told to resign, apparently. It seemed to amuse the OP, even though it was childish.

It's not his expectations that matter.  It's our expectations. Again, he can say he is Donald Trump, but unless we know that to be true,  his saying it doesn't matter.

Anyway, I love when people do that to me. Precisely I should be ironing better than playing chess.

Cyril Figgis: I'm not sure that's technically irony.

Sterling Archer: What? This is like O. Henry and Alanis Morissette had a baby, and named it this exact situation.

Just as you joke about a disconnect, it happens.

Irony:
Opponent's faulty connection causes his king to disappear, making the game unwinnable for you.
