interesting game Dave. Excellant queen sac finish for forced mate!
My best game so far...
I guess I got lucky...he had overlooked that move, 38. Q37+ Actually, I was expecting him to play 36... Nf5 to equalize the game.
If you would look closely, you would realized that I'm a passive chess player. I usually measured my opponent's move from my backyard, and only capitalized on their mistake. I've found out that this (playing a passive game) is not a good way of playing chess as most of the time, I got cramped in the middle game. Thus, due to great pressure, one could easily make some blunder and I'm not an exception... But old habits die hard...
I'm now trying to have a different approach towards my game. Actually, now and then, I'm trying to experiment some new line on my own...trying to get rid of my old passive way of playing chess.
I had just joined the Benko Opening forum and I had the opportunity to try the game myself against a stronger player.
Honestly, this line is very new to me and since I'm going to play against a strong player, might as well I'll give it a try. There's nothing to lost but much to gain...
Below is my best game so far. Maybe I caught him by surprise or maybe he's just like me, unfamiliar with Benko's...
