New discovery of ancient form of chess

Archaeologists have discovered that chess existed and was played even before the very existence of computers and internet. In an excavation site, that was later identified as 'pub', they found small wooden objects, with surprising similarities to the chess boards and pieces, as we know today on chess.com. The theory is now that visitors of this pub played chess by actually coming together, placing these wooden 'pieces' on the 'board' and then moving them around with their hands. It is not yet clear how this ancient way of playing chess could have possibly been compliant with Corona measures, but here's an artist's impression of what that may have looked like:
