Oh according to the Magnus facebook, Cannon Fodder was offically published last friday, but I still havn't figured it out yet.

DuranRosique

King of the Impossible, Won despite having much worse material (Age 7 and Up)

Thanks DuranRosique.

What do you mean by forcing checkmate ming?  Does it have to be a self mate or just he checkmates you 10 times?

Posting the screenshot for "King of the Impossible."  All credit goes to DuranRosique.  In my game, I was able to get the achievement by mating Magnus age 7 being down 9 points of material.

I think that Hiding in the castle was accidentally released early and thus is not functional yet. They post the official achievements on the play magnus facebook and twitter page.

Correct solution to waving the white flag is to make Magnus resign in 10 games.  I guess that is what Ming was talking about.  I have done one of these on Magnus 16 using a stockfish aid for the middlegame.  I have not seen magnus resign at ages 10 and below, so try ages 12+?  Interesting to note, the achievement became unsecret as soon as I completed 1/10.  Maybe we can use this to figure out "thristy for more" or "keen as mustard" once they become availible.

@ming I am still working on Master of the 10th and Waving the White Flag but I have the other 21 achievements.

Waving the White Flag is probably if you offer a draw 10 times in a row or something

...or not.

For Cannon Fodder I've tried losing all of my pieces, stalemating with all pieces both black and white off the board, and sacking a queen before delivering checkmate (all against Magnus 5 or 5 1/2).  Also losing 5 pieces in a row. Any other ideas?

fayfay1

This week's achievement I Pity The Fool requires that you lose by fool's mate.  I had already farmed this task before.  The best stradegy against Magnus 16+ is to play f3 then g4 as white.  This will always garuntee a quick reaction of e5 Qh5#.  As black play f6 against d4 and g5 against e4 and he will always do a quick fools mate on you with no 'think' time.

Correction, as keen as mustard requires you to just play a total of 250 games.

Likewise Thirsty For More is playing 750 games.

The play Magnus Facebook has posted the achievements Aspring Gandmaster  and Skyrocketing but I was unable to find them listed in the app.  Is anyone else able to see them?  Or prehaps they are intentionally hidden/non-implemented in the app.

I tried check mating using only king and queen 4 times against Magnus age 8 but kiss of death achievement wasn't unlocked. 😭😭😭

Come on guys. Has anyone managed to solve the Cannon Fodder yet?  It is right up there at the top so it makes me believe it is not so difficult, if you just know what is expected. All other achievements I have completed or I know what they are (some are still a bit beyond my skill level).

But Cannon Fodder, its bugging me really. I have played many games trying different things.

Clues from the name is that the term refers to combatants who are regarded as expendable and can be sacrificed. I am thinking of something with pawns for example. Or sacrificing a lot of pieces. So it probably involves something like that.

If you have achieved it and dont want to tell, at least throw out some clues happy.png

I would also love if someone could figure out Cannon Fodder, as it is the only one I have left.

Cannon Fodder is not mating via en passant.  I tried it on Magnus 7.

Nor is Cannon Fodder mating with only pawns and king on the board (Magnus 7+).  Though I did have at least 6 pawns when I did it.  It could be mating with only 2 point of material on the board.

I also tried moving all of my pawns on the first 8 moves and winning to no avail (Magnus 7).

I also doubt it is directly related to some theoretical pawn gambit, but it could have to do with losing significant material.

I think Cannon fodder appears at the top b/c it is near first alphabetically.

how did you get king of the impossible?@ fayfay

@chessercising Check my older post.  #26 on this forum.

fayfay1

@chessercising, it is the opposite of king of the impossible

Text: "Got Checkmated despite having much better material"

I don't remember if it has to be against magnus 7+ or not, but I would recommend farming it on Magnus 7.  Magnus 7, periodically hangs material so take advantage of it whenever you can.  Once you have 10+ material advantage, start marching your king toward Mangus. He is really good at mating you given the opportunity.  Be mindful of forks where he might threaten to win material back.
