strange behaviour at otb chess game

I was playing a man in a tournament. before the game I purchased some liquorice I put the liquorice on my side of table. before I could open the package.
he took it and opened it and took some and said "good idea"

if he had asked I would of course given him some but just taken it?!...is kind of a dubious move.

rofl
he randomly took it???
You should have told the tourney director and he couldve been disqualified? And did this get in the way of your game against him?

............Lmao.........

This is one of the funniest thing I heard.

Lesson for you: Never put anything on the table.

next time I bring a liquorice to any tournament I will probably hide it Laughing

yes he just took it. it was one minute before tournament start.

of course I was kind of surprised gaping of what he did. but it was a 2 hours game each. So I was able to put it behind me.
I won the game.
I guess telling the tournament director wouldn't do anything.

some of tournament director may be good but most tournament director are friends with everybody.

playing  chess with  somebody  new  to us makes  him  an  anquaitances it  seems he  has  been  a friend for  sometime  especially  when u  are  comfortable with  him it  differs  when  u  consider  him  as  a  foe  and  a  man  to beat. maybe  the  man you  face  was  comfortable  with  you or  he  likes  very much  liquorice or  just  taking  the  advantages for  that move

Next time use liquer. That's always worth fighting for.

Haha wow.

Maybe your opponent was just super nervous and forgot that the liquorice wasn't his?

Did you check what the FIDE rules say about this?

Pat_Zerr

Maybe he was just trying to unnerve you by taking your licorice?  Maybe he thought you would either be so upset or bewildered by that action that it would destroy your concentration.

If you ever play him again in the future, maybe you should place some homemade chocolate chip cookies on the table... with ex-lax chocolate chips.
