The 'Lessons' Achievement and other mysteries

Important: Chess.com has started to update the Achievement pages in order to remove the discrepancy between the number of Achievements reported on the top of the page and the actual number of Achievements!

To be fascinated by the Achievements is certainly not something new here on Chess.com! I have searched for members who have managed to receive the most of these intriguing eye-candies. I have found a lot of members who have more than 95 Achievements and these are the five members on the top of my list (I am not even near them):

JosephReidNZ

Wage-Slave

KingsBishop

JustsayGabriel

ChessLoverE4-E5

I am intrigued by the 'Lessons' Achievement on KingsBishop's profile because I have never seen it before.

It must have been introduced recently: it is infrequent, I have found only two other users who have received it (the 'Lessons' Achievement is on the second page):

jotahernandezv

2Ke21-0

My browser conveniently shows 16 Achievements on a page, 4 rows with 4 of them in one row. This feature enabled me to quickly identify which hidden (secret, invisible) Achievement is missing from the n-th page of a member and which visible Achievement is still locked.

So a member with more than 120 Achievements should have 7 full pages of them (7 * 16 = 112) and an incomplete page with at least 8 icons. But … they do not! I counted, checked and rechecked, but the discrepancy between the number shown on the top of the page and the actual number of icons is real! Where are those missing icons, what are they? Are they some personal Achievements, shown only exclusively to the member?

Nevertheless, Aghast, your 122 Achievements are quite a feat... But the real mystery is that you have finished 161 lessons (according to the data on your profile), but you have not received the 'Lessons' Achievement! That one is very rare.

I also received lessons 100 See in ny profile my king level is above 30.

Probably because I did those before the achievements were activated. So it never triggered. I just reset all the score on puzzles and lessons and now I'm triggering them.

There are a lot more to gain from just playing ... up to 10.000 daily games, rapid, blitz, bullet, 960live, all the variations ...

I'm doing lessons and bots and I'm already at 127 =) So immo if you just play you can reach 100 easy

Congratulation to your 'Lessons' Achievement! According to your profile, you have now, as you said, 127 of them. But if you actually count them on that web-page, there are only 119 of them, plus 3 that are visible, but still locked! It must be a bug in the software!

The Chess.com app on Android shows that there are 137 of them in total, all the hidden ones are also shown!

The new Christmas / New Year bots are good, except Holly, I a have defeated all the others!

Good to know that you are - according to your profile - also trying to earn as many Achievements as possible...

Once a month, I update a list of all those members I have found to have 130 or more Achievements:

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/who-has-the-most-achievements?page=2

Of course, there could be many, many more of them, because that list is a result of a not very sophisticated search!

But the mystery of the number of Achievements shown by chess.com vs. the number of them counted by hand still stands!

Thank you @Bayi1983 for your question!

It is the infamous Introspection Achievement! As far as I know, there are four Achievements for which you have to be a Premium Member to earn them:

  1. Puzzle Machine
  2. Silicon Brain
  3. Introspection
  4. Chess.com supporter

I could only fulfil the requirements for the Puzzle Machine and Introspection when I became a Premium Member. I am still working on the Silicon Brain!

The procedure for the Introspection is as follows:

  1. You have to open the Explorer under Learning: https://www.chess.com/explorer
  2. In the top right you must choose My Games from the drop-down list
  3. You must click on one of the first moves you played in your games, after that the first move of your opponent, then the second, third, fourth, fifth moves and after that your sixth move!

Only after the sixth move will you earn your Introspection Achievement!

The above procedure is not mine, I have read it in one of the forums...

Maybe you succeeded to get the Puzzle Machine and the Silicon Brain before the restrictions, but now you cannot solve more than five puzzles per day if you are not a Premium Member. Similarly, most of the Drills are locked...

Last, but not least congratulations on your 131 Achievements! Amazing! But the mystery remains: if you count your Achievements on https://www.chess.com/awards/bayi1983/achievements

you will arrive at 121! Where are those 10 others?

If I count mine, there are 117 of them, as shown! I do not understand this at all...
