I read somewhere that 'in the beginning was the endgame'. So I guess it came from there. Unless the quote is 'in the beginning was the middlegame'; if so, adjust accordingly.

Wiki is pretty accurate with facts. Wiki's problem is that it tends to be slanted in the direction of the editors with the most clout. That said, Wiki is more a jumping-off place than a destination.
Yeah but the main use of it is to get a basic grasp of things and look at the material in their references. While never as a direct citation I used it a lot at University.
