Everybody has a reason for everything, what are your reasons?.

One day I saw my brother playing chess, and my dad starting teaching him a few things.  My dad was clearly proud of my brother.  Considering my dad had not talked to me for about a week up to that point, I craved the attention and approval that my brother was receiving.  I struggled hard to learn basic concepts like the "pin" but pressed on.  I was partially inspired at the time by the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer" where the father becomes obsessed with his son's chess gift.  My father never had to worry about that.  I hope he calls back.  It's been 22 years.

It is fun.

Actually because I found about it in 3rd grade and after joining the chess club at school, I became addicted and took it up as a hobby. But also because it's fun. ヽ(゜▽゜ ) -
