A game I shouldn't have won

Here is a game I won, but should have lost. I see many blunders, many because of time, and I am requesting help. Thank you.

1. e4 c6
2. Nf3 d5
3. d3 Bg4
4. Nc3 Nf6
10. Qg5 Qxg5
11. Bxg5 e6
13. d4 Nc4
14. Bxc4 Rc8
15. Bb5+ Rc6
16. d5 Nxf2
17. Rd4 Bc5
18. Rc4 Be3+
21. Rxc6 O-O
22. Rc4 exd5
23. Rg4 Re8
24. Bd4 Re4
26. Bf6 Re1+
27. Kd2 Ra1
29. Rh8#

9 Qd2- Play the bishop to d2. Then when he takes your knight, you take his, and you are even.

16 d5- play 16 Bxc6+ you don't get the nice mate but you do get a bishop for a rook, good trade. (Btw, I used to avoid having my rooks with one or three spaces between them, just in case I didn't see a fork coming.)

17 Rd4- Best thing to do here is to take his rook with your pawn. If he recaptures then Bxc6#. If he does anything but Be7, then cxb7 is checkmate, and even if he does that, cxb7 is still the best move as it is guarantees you a shiny new Queen.

 22. Rc4- Attack his rook with Bc5 or move your pawn up to make it a passed pawn.

9. Qd2 - I'd just block with Nc3. That way you don't lose your night and his next move needs to either move/protect his knight or you're up a knight.

28. ... Ke8 is the best move for Black...

every move is a BLUNDER!!!!!!!!!!

bastiaan

8 Qxg4

9 Nc3

12 h3, NOT 0-0-0; leads to Nxf2

13 until 15 Bh4 maybe?

17 dxc6!?

18 same

21 dxc6

22 d6

That's most things I would've done differently (+opening), not blunders per se.

7. Qxg4!

16. dxc6! then mate would probably happen next move because of your ratings!

Other than that, there is a lot you could have done different, but you definately SHOULD have won.  Good job.

Hi xbigboy,

You shouldn't have abandoned your plans when black moves 16 .. Nf2

You could have mated in 2 - 4 moves depending on your opponents moves:

17 xc6   Nxd1  18 c7#

Or

17 xc6  Be7   18 c7+  Kf8  19  c8=Q+  Bd8  20  Qxd8#
