A game I was lucky to win

I think I played pretty badly in this game.  I didn't like my position out of the opening and struggled to find a plan.  Eventually my opponent slipped up and I got the upper hand, but I think I got lucky.  My comments are in the 'move list'.  Your comments are welcomed...

Interesting game. 36... Nh5 was not easy to find ;-). I just wanted to spoil the day by saying... in your note to move 36. You mention the threat of mate by Qg1... Uhm, not really! There is one small computer move - Bf1! and then, you take the Bishop (with your Queen!) to mate. Qf1#.Surprised

I would say:

37. g4 Ng3+ 38. Kg2 Qd2+ 39.Qxd2 cxd2 40. Be2 b3 41.d6 Ke8 42. Bd1 b2 43.  Bc2 b1=Q and wins.

There are more variations, but this is the idea...

My Fritz says exactly the same thing. Smile

Boring, what about 40. Ba4 instead of Be2? The bishop holds the pawns and black doesn't have time to save his knight because d6 is threatened.

tonydal, yeah, when I played through the moves on a board I caught that white can wait until black plays d7 and play Ke7. I had thought that after black plays d6 white would have a problem because the bishop keeps the king from approaching. Thanks for picking up my error. :-)
