A game of mine

This is a game I recently played where I beat a 1600 rated player. I think I played well here but I would like to know if there were any areas where I could improve and where I made mistakes. Any opinions/analysis would be greatly appreciated.

I feel that you did nothing wrong here, but your opponent simply didn't play a smart positional game at all (a horrible g7 bishop, letting your knight take an unopposed e5 seat etc.) Your play was very solid.

However, towards the end, I felt that your opponent was gaining ground on you. He had you on the defence, and was making pawn breaks left and right. You didn't really have a plan, did you? Just try to think ahead a couple of moves (ie. his weak points to attack, points you should cover on your side, gaining tempos) and you can play even better than you do now. Your 18th move seemed like the turning point for his play (wasn't really active, a4 was better) and on the 22nd move I think you should have considered making a passed pawn and gang up on his a5 pawn. Thats all I can think of now. GG.

Thank you very much for your advice. It is true that I never had much of a plan, and that is probably something I neglect in a lot of my games. I think I was a little intimidated by his rating, and I was unwilling to leave pieces vulnerable. Thank you very much for your analysis, it was very helpful.
