I need help looking over this game..  I ended up winning by tactics, but it seems like at one point he had an easy route out.. I can't tell, any help would be appreciated.. Thanks.  Btw, I know its a weird opening/game in general, I usually don't play like that

Nice entertaining game!

I think his Ne6 was a mistake, as it seemed to give you lots of ways to get a good position. Also for his move 9, ...b5 can be met by Qa6 and it is tricky, but I don't think you are any worse. However I think he was right to play Nxf4, and after O-O-O, if he plays Nxd5 followed by moving the Queen off the d-file, I think he will survive and keep the extra material. But once he has played b5, very pretty finish!

nice game

I think 8. Nd5 is not your strongest move. Qb3, Qa4+, and even Bxe6 are all quite a lot better in my opinion. Nd5 moves a piece twice in the opening and doesn't seem to achieve anything.

I don't think 9. ... b5 gives black the advantage. After, 9. ... b5 10. Qa6 Rc8 11. Rf1 Nxf4 12. Nc3 bxc4 it's level. In fact, 9. ... Nxf4 is a little stronger and gives black a slight edge.

10. 0-0-0 is quite a poor move by white.  After 10. ... Nxd5 11. Bxd5 Qb6 black has a winning advantage; a piece and a pawn up. However, black makes an equally poor move with 10. ... b5.

10. ... b5 in this position loses. 11. ... cxb5 allows mate, but even the best move in this position (Ne2+) gives white little hope.

So, in short, the losing move for black was 10. ... b5. White took good advantage. However, black missed an opportunity to win the game when white blundered with 10. 0-0-0.

Well, first of all, after 4...Bg4 you could have left him in deep trouble with 5.d5 immediately. thing is, his knight is going to get him in trouble if he doesn't go back to b8, but if he does, his position is just...kinda pathetic, from a development perspective.

If he tries to keep his knight active by

5....Bxf3 6.exf3 Ne5 then you play 7.Bf4 Ng6 8.Nc4 and since your bishop is immunte (8...Nxf4 9.Bb5 c6 10.dxc6 and with or without exchanging queens, black has no good answer to the discovered check:),

your position is just...huge.

Had he played 6...Qxd4 I believe he would have had at least an equal position. Maybe some chances for an advantage. I know I like black's position there in any case.

In the game, he goes with 7...Ne6 which you can blow away with Qb3. threats on e6, b7, some nasty ideas on b5. Rd1 will come with tempo on his queen. Just a dream position.

After 9.Qa4, you seem to think if he replies with ...b5 the advantage is his. Not sure, it's very complicated since you can maintain a lot of threats with Qa6, where this leads to is beyond me though.

His move (9...Nxf4) Seems to give him a very good game though. Lucky you, he doesn't follow it up correctly on the very next move.

10.0-0-0? should have been answered by 10...Nxd5 11.Bxd5 (you thought you're winning here because of the pinned pawn? probably he did too) Qb6 and after your bishop retreats just e6 and black is just a piece up.

After his ...b5, you finish the job nicely, not giving him another chance:) Nice short game.
