Analysis: How to

I'm looking to begin seriously annotating my games for the first time.  Does anyone have recommended software and a process that works well for them (and that would work well for an average (1400-1500) player)?  If there is a thread that already covers this info, I apologize.

Thanks in advance.

You don't need any special software to annotate your games. In fact, I would recommend you not use a chess engine to help you. At least not on your initial analysis. After you have done your best to find your errors, then go through the game with a chess engine so that you can see additional suggestions. Don't just take the software's moves as god given. Try to figure out yourself why it evaluates particular moves as better. For this, any decent chess engine will do.

If you take a look at the very first post in this forum ("Read this before posting"), it can give you some good pointers.  Laughing

Thanks, Loomis.

Yep, that's my general plan.  What I'm really asking, and I probably wasn't clear in my first post, is for software that makes it easy to plug my comments into a pgn file, so I can save my annotations in a library of my games and easily post those annotated games here.  Basically what you can do with the "Insert position or game" button here, but something I can use off line as well.   Or in other words a graphical interface that I can replay my games in, add my incredibly insightful comments, and then save.  Sorry for being so thick.  Can I blame it on a head cold?
