Agree with Deirdre Skye, you are stronger than ELO 200-400 for sure. As for buying a chessboard, I feel like these days its mostly just needed to play humans in person because you can do everything else with a computer. Are you going to play humans in person? Tournaments are fun for all levels, and many chess clubs welcome beginners, especially thoughtful ones.

You forgot WIBacon22 , seems he has a thing with you.
That was it! Thank You. I couldnt remember exactly how he was honoring me :-)

Now you mention it , he did fool me this time. But he didn't do the same trick(lowering the rating to 200 and then winning blindfolded 2000+ guys and asking how that happened). Seems he realised that was totally stupid after the 5th time(he doesn't learn fast but he learns).
Even chimps can be taught to smoke a cigar, and wear a propellar beanie...Hes mixin up his game.
For a guy that hasn't studied chess consistently, you are good. Of course many mistakes but at least you try to find targets and most of your moves have a purpose even if that is often wrong. The very few blunders in your moves show that you have already a quite developed tactical awareness which might mean you are talented.
I don't understand why you need us to tell you if you must buy a chess board. I find that very weird.Either you are good or bad , it doesn't mean you can't be better. How are we suppose to know that?
Do you like chess? Do you have friends to play against them?Do you want to study chess? If there is a "yes" in any of these 3 questions then obviously buy a chessboard. Chess is not for the good players , it's for everyone.
Don't let a number(rating) tell you what to do. You might be 200 now and 1800 in 2 years.Who can reallly tell what will happen if you put a little effort in the game?
Tactical awareness?? Is it true???? But I don't have any knowledge about tactics and strategy........ I know very little, for example about "pin", few openings name, but I don't know about "fork", "skewer", double attack, etc. I'm still confused.....
I have some financial problems. Since chess as a pastime activity, I feel I have to know is it a fine selection to buy a chess set. Sorry if it is weird... To get a chess set, because I live in a remote place, I have to go to another region, or I have to go to the central city, which takes some more funds...
I'm still confused about chess. But I feel I'm pleasant when playing it.......
Your answer is very nice!!! Thanks!!! Thank you very much!!! Perhaps I'm very hilarious when Fritz sends me that estimate rating......

Thank you for your answer!!!
Perhaps if there is an opportunity I would like to play with someone. But I don't know about tournaments and chess clubs......

Thank you very much for your comment!!!!
But I don't know those people that pretending like that. I'm very sorry if my post is not appropriate.......

This whole thread summarizes the spirit of chess.com forums. 50% of the posts are by trolls. 30% by complete begginers asking how they can improve. 19% by begginers giving advice to begginers without having a clue of what they are talking about. 1% by good players anwering good questions.
It's a pity. Such a great website with so much great content, but the forums are a complete and utter trash
Hi everyone. Firstly, I'm very sorry for my inconvenient English. I'm a beginner in chess. I started playing chess not long ago, but I have never played on the board.
I feel I have Elo only around 200-400, but when I playing Fritz 16 with beginner level and win, Fritz gives me, perhaps an estimate, something like 1200/1300/1400 Elo. (I got Fritz 16 program from the internet.) Judging from the game, is there any probability that my Elo goes that high? And what do you think of my rating actually is?
If any member can give an objective reason that my play is really not going to the 300-500 (I consider it is), perhaps I can buy one. My ultimate question is: do I play chess well??
Guys honestly I don't have any chess set.
Thank you very much......!!!
(Below a sample game but I playing with an android app on normal level. This is my first time to annonate chess game. I'm verry sorry for there are many incorrect things there.....)
