It cannot be checkmate if there is no check.

There was one about eight moves ago.
You just missed mate in one move thirteen times at this game- not such a big deal.
If someone doesn't know what "mate" is (or what it's good for), then it's easy to miss it.
You are not dumb, but you are obviously pretty new to chess. Review the definitions of "Checkmate" and "Stalemate." one important hint: It's never checkmate if the king isn't in check
