Sorry I missed the answer, interesting that I consider it a half assed game for someone of his rating... but I think the problem is that blacks play does not appear to be 1800 strength!
That said, I think people in their thirties are often losing at blitz to lower rated teens. I can't play chess as fast as I could when I was twenty, but I sure play better... and "weaker" long game can sometimes free up a lot of thought process when playing faster chess.
A very interesting thread idea. How about digging out some obscure top-level games and playing "Guess the master" next?
i thought white played better, but its interesting how most thought black played better. perhaps it was because black was attacking a lot that made most people think black was better. But even with all those attacks white played cool under pressure and had nothing on the line.
after move 17 and after all of blacks weak attacks, white seams to have a solid position while blacks pawn structure is in chaos. and then shortly after black falls with no more attack left.
1800-1900, good guess maybe?
