Not quite as bad but I've lost 87 points from an all-time high a fortnight ago. My W/L ratio currently stands at +5.

Chess like any game is addictive. It's natural to want to recoup losses by playing on and on but it's not healthy.

I only took up chess again at the start of the year having not played since school more than a decade ago. I've learned that what I know will only get me so far and I'm often beaten by stronger, more knowledgeable players. I need to take up lessons. Further, if I'm on a losing streak or I find myself angry/frustrated, walk away.

My dad likens my chess to a gambling addiction. But he isn’t wrong.

Ah, my dad calls it the equivalent of a drug addiction. So I've got you beat there!

You can lose more money by gambling in a shorter amount of time! Can you beat that?

sndeww

Ok you win.

sndeww

I just can’t win against you can I

I only have one and he’s like an NPC. Literally repeats his own points when you outgun him.

I now no longer argue with idiots. I simply say “ok” or “you are right”

This is what I think is the real reason why people drop 100-200 points in just a few days. Many higher rated players got caught cheating, meaning they used a computer to play against their oponent. Their account was suspended or closed, because of cheating. Then they go and open a new account. Now they are rated very little, and start from the bottom. So now you have many 2000+ rated players who are 1700-1900, and moving up fast. Once they get up to their actual rating, then everybodys rating will go back up. I see many people who I played before, suddenly 200 points lower, and only a few hundred games. A guy does not become 2000+ rated by playing a few hundred games, that person played thousands of games. So when you see somebody who beat you, and he has lets say 100 games, that means he recently opened another account. And usually the reason to open a new account is because a person got caught cheating.

i agree with you but site to be honest really has problems with cheaters. In blitz its pretty ok people dont often use computers on it but on rapid there is so many cheaters i would dare to say in 10 games i play with 2 cheaters and that can affect rating drop significally

sndeww

Really, you think so many cheaters in rapid pool?

lol i can send you picture how many times chess.com gifted my rating back when i play with cheaters its around 30 times or even more

sndeww

Oh that’s interesting, I thought I’d get more cheaters but in my past 20 games I don’t think I had a single cheater

ThunderstormChess

yea but there are smart cheaters as well who are not that obvious

sndeww

I think innocence is bliss, just don’t notice your opponent and you won’t be bothered by cheating.

ThunderstormChess

true true but its hard sometimes to know when comp is outplaying you Lol
