Engine prepping for an opponent?

Hey All!

A question please: Is it acceptable to use a chess engine OUTSIDE of chess.com (IE. NOT the "analysis" feature) when prepping for an upcoming match based on OTHER games your opponent has played and NOT your own game???

And to even continue this with other games that MAY even resemble your CURRENT match against an opponent as the game progresses?

As long as it's NOT the actual game?

Also, I study a lot, play on, ahem...other chess sites etc...and NEVER want to be accused of cheating when I'm not.

Any help on this one please?!

Thanks again you guys!

Sure, you can unleash any engine, book or devine advice on any game that isn't in progress.

Ofcourse you can't play any match with you use an engine for. So if you actually mean that you play the same position against someone else and then use an engine, then that is cheating.

That's one reason why Kasparov won the world championships... by using intense prep on games of others.

Yep, it's totally legit and not a bit unnethical.

OK,

Because I DO NOT cheat. (My rating to this point can attest to that! LOLOL)

What's the point?!

I just wanted some feedback on prep, which I appreciate!

Thanks guys!
